Different from the rest of the relationships is the relationship of a daughter-in-law and mother-in-law. She could be your critic as well as your mother-in-law could be your best friend. To get familiar and adjust within the new family and making you comfortable she is the one who helps you. You are really dependent on her over a lot of day-to-day things as she is the binding agent of the family. When a situation comes she is not only your mother-in-law but also the one who is always there for you in the family. Which she really deserves, there is no better way of acknowledging her efforts and giving her a gift. Here in this case are you then confused on what to gift her and what not to gift her? Giving her the impression that she is not valued and you don’t consider her important is giving her a wrong gift. Some gifts that you should never give to your mother-in-law, here we are sharing.
Exercise Equipment:
Giving her an exercise kit is no doubt a wrong choice no matter how much effort your mother-in-law is putting to reduce the extra kilos. Offending and giving her sense that she really needs to make more efforts to stay fit or that she is not fit, is giving her yoga mat, fitness clothes, and digital health tracker. You liked the way she is putting efforts to stay fit and no doubt you are giving her as to appreciate her efforts. Not the right choice is but gifting her exercise equipment on some special occasion.
Gym Membership:
It is not necessary that everyone loves to spend time in the gym even if you may be a fitness freak and love to go to the gym every day like a ritual. That your mother-in-law is conscious about her health and fitness and she is spending an amount of time on morning and evening walks or yoga it is quite possible. Whereas she is equally interested in spending her time in the gym and exercising is not an indication. Which requires a lot of motivation to continue don’t give her such kind of memberships. That she doesn’t find going to the gym as interesting as she finds running or walking in a nearby garden, it might be. Not really a good option is so giving her gym memberships.
Cookery Book:
Giving her a cookery book might offend her even if your intentions might just be to share your cooking tips and expert advice with her, and then you really want her to know how to cook some mouth-watering continental or south-Indian dishes. That she is not a good cook or you don’t like the way she cooks she might feel. Don’t give her something unless or until she has expressed the desire to buy something similar as it might be she is a good learner and she is always keen to learn new dishes.
Wrong Size Clothes:
Hold on for a second and before buying that dress for her try to find out her size as recently you have seen the latest trendy outfit and you want to gift that gorgeous dress to your mother-in-law. Not the right idea is giving her a dress that might not fit her well. Buy something for her accordingly by first trying to find out her size. It is always better to buy something which will fit her well whereas in case you buy a dress one size bigger or smaller than you need to get it replaced.
Old Fashioned Jewellery:
As all women love jewellery giving jewellery as a gift to your mother-in-law is a great idea. That she is fond of a specific pattern or designs maybe this. From her favourite shop, she likes to buy her jewellery. If she is not fond of it then it is not worth giving it no matter how classy these antique pieces of jewellery will look with her favourite saree or suit. If you gift her something of her interest, it is always better. Which she is not going to wear in the future avoid giving her such jewellery. Try to know her liking about jewellery before investing a good amount in jewellery.
Cleaning Supplies:
Never get tempted to gift this to your mother-in-law even when you are fond of a specific cleaner because of its tough formula and cleaning abilities. Gifting her cleaning supplies is not really a brilliant idea though you might think that she should also use it because of its good results and quality. Giving her cleaning supplies might offend her and give her an impression that she is not good at it or using the wrong material as cleaning supplies are just simple utilities and people have their own choices and reasons behind using them.
